What does this qualification cover?
This qualification aims to upskill the workforce in stroke care to improve services and meet the projected outcomes of the National Stroke Strategy for England. It also contributes towards the Stroke Specific Education Framework.
This qualification provides the opportunity to further develop knowledge around supporting individuals with stroke. It supports learners to understand:
• the impact of the effects of stroke on daily living
• associated complications for an individual with stroke
• changing physical needs of individuals affected by stroke
• communication factors affecting individuals following a stroke.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for a wide range of workers and prospective workers within the health and social care sector. This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.
Duration: 6 months
What are the entry requirements?
There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification, however, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification.
How is this qualification structured?
To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management, learners are required to achieve 26 credits.
17 credits must be from the 4 mandatory units and 9 credits (a minimum of 2 units) from the optional units.
A minimum of 20 credits must be achieved at level 3.
How is it assessed?
To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the chosen units. The Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management is internally assessed.
Do you need to be working to take this qualification?
The Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management is a competence-based qualification. A competency-based qualification must be assessed in a real work environment in accordance with the relevant assessment principles.
