 What does the qualification cover?

This qualification develops a basic knowledge of childcare in early years settings. It covers working with children up to the age of 5 years old. The units include subjects such as the value of play, roles and responsibilities of carers and volunteers, and the importance of developing links in the local community. 

This course can be studied online and resources will be provided when you register.  

Who is it suitable for?

Anyone who is considering a career in early years settings. This could include parents and volunteers who would like to play a part in early years settings such as pre-schools.

What are the entry requirements?

You should be at least 16 years old. 

How many credits are required to complete it?

The Award requires 6 credits.           Duration:  3 weeks

How is it assessed?

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. 

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?

No, but it's recommended that you should be volunteering in early years setting.

  • Level 2 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Play work
  • Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care
  • Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People.
