Who is it suitable for?
This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care in an unsupervised capacity.
It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
What does this qualification cover?
The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.
What are the entry requirements?
Learners should be at least 16 years old.
How is this qualification structured?
All learners will need to complete the 9 mandatory units, thereby achieving a total of 21 credits.

The qualification will be assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
