What does the qualification cover?
The Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning Principles provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work effectively in cleaning and support services across domestic, commercial, healthcare, and facilities environments.
This programme also includes embedded specialist awareness of water hygiene risks, focusing on Legionella bacteria and Legionnaires’ disease prevention, supporting safer workplace practice in line with health and safety expectations.
Learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe and effective cleaning across internal, external, and high-risk environments
- Apply infection prevention and control principles in workplace settings
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely in line with COSHH requirements
- Identify and manage workplace hazards effectively
- Understand legal responsibilities including RIDDOR reporting
- Recognise water hygiene risks and apply basic Legionella prevention awareness
- Understand the health impact of Legionnaires’ disease and safeguarding measures
